WHAT? 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free program encouraging you to read and track 1000 books with your child before they start kindergarten.
WHY? Reading to your child is an excellent way to get them ready for kindergarten. It prepares them to learn the literacy, language, and social-emotional skills that will serve as the foundation of their early school years.
READ! Any book counts: library books, repeated titles, ebooks, books read at Storytime, daycare, and more!
TRACK! Color a leaf on the chart for every book you read--remember, any book counts! After you complete one page of the chart (100 books!), turn it in at the library for a small treat.
ENJOY! Have fun reading together as you work towards the 1000 book goal. Don’t forget to VISIT THE LIBRARY often for new books and fun Storytime opportunities! FINISH! Once you have reached the 1000 books goal, come to the library for a celebration and a gift!
